Alternate Characters Guide (Updated for Mod 15)

With the overall increase of grindiness in Neverwinter, it has become incredibly difficult to keep pace with multiple characters. We’ve gotten to a point where maining more than one hardly makes sense. Most feel they can’t bring toons to the level they’d like to in any reasonable time. The latest devs have taken steps to make gearing alternate characters a lot easier in recent modules. Refining, Companions and Mounts however still remain the three main hindrances. All of these are extremely expensive and cannot be transferred between characters. And while normal Runestones and Enchantments can be deslotted and interchanged, it’s highly inconvenient to switch all gems whenever switching chars.

Alternate Characters Are Resource Factories

That’s why alternate characters have mainly emerged as resource factories for mains. Not only because they are hard to maintain, but mainly because most systems linearly scale with character slots. This might be intended to drive sales, but it led to the fact ALTs are used to increase wealth. This is controversial as PWE has indeed banned players, especially those that spend little money on the game, for a dubious “fair use” policy when too many Astral Diamonds have flowed from ALTs to main characters. Some players actually agree it’s sort of exploiting the system. On the other hand it’s not forbidden to use characters like this and over the years the devs have never taken serious steps to limit this approach.

In this guide we are going to examine the current functions of ALTs as farms and how to conveniently gear them up. We’ll talk about different ways to profit and how you can maximize their potential. To conclude the series we will also be looking at ways how to add more incentives to actually play them.

Just an idea I want to put out there about legendary mounts….I would like to see them transferable from Mains to alts, even if it’s a cost of ad or zen. We invest a lot of time into the games and too grind again for the same mounts plus bonus is mad. Just think this is a good idea as the game wants us to make new alts
