Welcome to the latest installment of our Bag of Tricks! On some days you will find useful tricks, gimmicks and ideas here that can make life in Neverwinter Online easier. Some of the stuff should be well known, but since even veterans learn something new every now and then, chance is you can, too.

Devoted Cleric Michela123 has put up a very interesting thread in the guide section of the Arcgames forum. Endgame group composition in Neverwinter is largely about stacking buffs and debuffs and the comprehensive post pretty much delivers all you need to know about the topic. Michela123 is no stranger to theorycrafting as she has co-authored Sharpedge’s Notes on CW.

There’s a lively discussion ongoing in the thread, but for those not willing to crawl through we have compiled two interesting insights. There’s a lot more to discover though. So make sure to browse to the thread and extend your knowledge!

Capped or uncapped?

Debuffs cap at 200% effectiveness. As long as you have a MoF Control Wizard in your group you should be able to hit the cap at any given time. Interestingly some powers and feats are uncapped and can be stacked on top of the 200%. Scourge Warlocks add a whopping 35% worth of personal and 15% worth of group debuffs through Tyrannical Curse and Hadar’s Grasp. Also most debuffing companions are uncapped and the debuffs of Sellsword and Con Artist stack. Weapon Enchantments that don’t cap are Plague Fire and Frost, making them substantially better than the others.

Do not use debuffing Artifacts

Artifacts with debuff powers seem kinda unnecessary. Lantern caps at 200% and doesn’t help a ton and the others that do not cap are bugged and/or lose effectiveness from mob DR and versus level 73 mobs. If you’re not absolutely sure that your group doesn’t hit the cap it’s probably better to use something else.
