Indy: What is good PVE?

Hi NW community, I’m Indy of Look Good Play Good. Today we’re here to talk about a stranger topic than usual, what is good PvE? And what motivates you to continue playing it?

I ask this because I have retired from all formats of PvE. I simply cannot find a dungeon or raid that is worth my time and consistent grinding. So what does it take to make a dungeon you not only need to run, as many of the Demogorgon Rings and Castle Never Rings made us feel (pre ambush nerf anyone), but actually want to run?

Variety and profit

There’s three driving forces between why PvE content is done. First and foremost is profit. I love to hear about those legendary two minute Epic Shores of Tuern runs that can net you 120,000 RAD per hour without factoring any sort of RNG. That dungeon however has been around since Mod4 on Xbox (I don’t have a date for PC, but its safe to say, before April of 2015) and it still stands to be one of the most profitable content to run. Castle Never is a pseudo runner-up because of the Orcus Wand being the Lostmauth Horn of Mod9 and onwards. The amount of AD you can earn often impacts what you decide to spend your time doing and we the players deserve more variety.

Exclusivity

The second motivational force behind PvE is exclusivity. How many of you grinded for that sexy HAMSTER peg leg a few weeks back? Then you know what I’m getting at. If its rare, uncommon, or unique, we want it, and we want it to be difficult to get. I won’t demand cosmetics be added to the dungeon loot tables though because they end up becoming another form of salvage. A balanced loot table is a fair loot table, but knowing there’s a small window to earn something that may be gone for 6 months to a year gives each player a sense of accomplishment when they brandish their new cool looking fashions or transmutes. And every CTA should go a step further by adding their own exclusives.

Rarity

Lastly is rarity. Now this one is a double edged sword to the most extreme degree. I’ll preface this with a rundown of my RNG. I clocked around 3500 Lostmauth runs before Mod6 hit on Xbox last year (2015) and I never saw a Horn drop. Not one in the chest, and none on the ground. That HAMSTER was discouraging, but it also made me more hungry for it. As the Horn fell out of favor, I put in a few hundred CN runs months later with the same result. I have never seen a rare Artifact drop. This isn’t a bad thing either, it means there are items out there that, when dropped, will make someones day/week/month.

Neverwinter as a whole needs more of them and I’d love for them to be cosmetic so that they don’t alter the meta, but they give each player a new tangible goal. Rare, epic, or even legendary Mounts, Fashions, Artifacts or Companions would be warmly welcomed as a new reason to get back out there and HAMSTER up some dungeons n dragons.

As a whole Neverwinter PvE was what drew us all in, think back to the first time you took down Charthraxis in Neverdeath Graveyard and got your first dragon bone weapon. We need to bring back all those good feelings PvE gave us!

Try out Darkest Dungeon, better dungeons, better loot, real challenge at champion and darkest level.

    Well written, and well said!

I hope the Devs take time to see this, read it, and implement it…

You could say the same thing about PVP. No balance, drains/wards, 5 man premades, double classes, piercing damage, syncing solo que’s, stronghold boons and insignia bonuses. 95% of matches aren’t competitive, what’s the point?

Coming from the guy charging 6m entrance fee to his guild? LOL. You don’t get to talk about good anything, scrub.

^^^^The salt is real with this one. @herbz Why the &$#@ would we just let ANY random person waltz right in and have access to the best drains/food/boons/perks in the game (which, by the way, the guild as a whole put a SHITLOAD of time and effort into so that we could have access to it) FOR FREE????. Just wait until your guild hits the grind stage milestones and you’ll finally realize how much effort is required to progress. Or maybe you’re just one of the ppl that logs on every day to get his key and MAYBE does influence, and expects stuff to be gift wrapped for him.

Making AD is one of the easiest things in this game to do. As a matter of fact, Indy just gave you an extremely brainless way of learning AD above, but I’m sure you missed that part. If you can’t raise a measly 6mil with little to no effort, then you can’t say anything about ANYONE being bad at this game, other than yourself.

Yet again one Indy’s Goonies to save the day with some salt. This isn’t highschool anymore, everyone isn’t salty because the disagree without someone. Get off his nut sack.

What herbz was trying to say is Indy has no perspective about neverwinter or pve, he is just greedy. There also a reason why this type of greed never works out for everyone, just look at what happened to xbox lgpg and their alliance, half of the members and alliance guilds left not too long ago. No one outside the neverwinter 1% will ever embrace Indy or his ideas. But then again I’m sure I’m just “salty”, take what I say with a grain of salt.

I’m curious, why am i greedy? My guild policy of an entry fee came about by a vote of all my officers and co-leaders vs me in December of 2015 and we’ve kept the policy as it produced results. I never made a dollar or a diamond as a result of my guilds entry fee so i’m not sure how that translates to greed.

And in the case of our xb1 alliance we have 13 guilds happily working together and those who decided to seek out greener pastures have found the games shrunk considerably and there’s no point in trying to continue to hold imaginary grudges over the way a guild was run.

ROFL bitch I can teach you how to make AD, I’m one of the richest on PC, I raised as guild from nothing to GH 20, I can literally teach you how to play too you console remote grabbing idiot. Charging 6m for what? For a bunch of incompetent dumbasses who can’t back up their own info so they refer to the PC elite for validation? What have you done for the community? Who the FUCK are you, anyways? Another nobody who thinks they’re a hot shot because they recruit 4k wallet warriors and enjoy having 0 competition for being a “top” guild. Made me just laugh even thinking about you being a “top” guild roflmao bunch of retards

    Indy, stop complaining.

You hardly play Neverwinter. You just spout your mouth on Reddit and forums (like this) and rarely have any good advice to offer anyone, but you pretend you have something to say because you’ll do anything for attention.

You charge actual money to join your guild which mostly goes into your pocket and barely participate other than to get on forums and take credit for things you didn’t do, seek admiration in guild chat, or cause drama by altering guild giveaways or playing judge and jury when something goes wrong. You kept your pervert friend in charge for months despite unanimous criticism and tried to conspire with other guild leaders to steal from the guild so you could cash out.

Three dozen people left “your” guild on Xbox because you’re a corrupt absentee leader and now that guild is falling apart. You’ve lost all your quality players and filled the empty spots with pay-to-win 4KIL people who ask things in guild chat like “how do I move AD between characters?”

You put someone in charge who had been in the guild for less than a few months because you knew anyone who had been in it longer than that hates you. You couldn’t trust them because you were untrustworthy and rotten and you projected that on everyone else.

But people need not take my word for it, because this will all be dead obvious to the community when (if) Cryptic releases Guild Hall upgrades and LGPG can’t keep up. You should separate your ego from the game and let the people who actually play it manage the guild. They can rename it to reclaim dignity from a community who refuses to trust or respect the guild from all the cheating, scamming, and harassment.

    Happy 2017!

I’m glad you got to vent so now let me take a minute to correct you point by point.

    1. I haven’t been on reddit in about a year as i got banned a long time ago. Advice on what dungeon is the most profitable is what i get asked repeatedly so i find for the newer players its more relevant.

    2. i’ve never made a single $ from recruitment, Viral or Doomsayer could verify that since they watched the roster obsessively making sure everyone belonged and kick anyone who didn’t pay. Also i never altered a giveaway, theres never been any incentive to. People will always be butthurt if they didn’t win.

    3. As far as I know I’m the only leader who didn’t cashout, and i lead guilds on both platforms, so where did i conspire against myself?

    4. 15 inactive PvE players leaving for TLO doesn’t equate to “all the quality players” but everyone thinks they’re the best at what they do and nobody runs PvE like them, so please, live in those delusions. It doesn’t change the fact that LGPG is a happier less jaded emotional shitshow since the bad apples shipped out.

    5. Apathy is leading the ship on a day to day basis and hes been in the guild for over 9 months, and he plays on both platforms. I know hes a fine fit for keeping the alliance drama free. I’m sorry you aren’t as happy but its not about you now is it? 🙂

    6. As PS4 LGPG approachs GH20 i’m excited to see if we can keep up on 2 consoles as thats a task no other guild, on either platform will be attempting. I’m glad there are pessimists out there who don’t believe but that didn’t stop the guild on XB1 the first time, and it won’t stop us on PS4.

I hope you’re enjoying yourself wherever you found a new home, but remember LGPG has always thrived, despite the criticism and complaints from the community. Good luck!

Lol Indy… I don’t even have anything to really say. I enjoyed destroying LGPG on Xbox though. That was fun. I hope PS4 is treating you well..

How do they even let you post things here still is beyond me.

Cheers, and Happy 2017 Scrub Daddy.
