Indy’s Spoiler Alert: Strongholds

One Module is coming, another one is in the book.

Elite guild ‘Look Good Play Good’ wrapped up Strongholds just in time to be ready for the Maze Engine as they’ve reached Guild Hall 20 a few weeks ago (we reported the achievement in our Community Watch). Based on his experience LGPG leader and official streamer Indy has compiled a few tips and hints for us to help other guilds grow their Stronghold as well.

So now that LGPG has wrapped up Module 7: Strongholds, I’d like to take a minute to outline a few keys to success that I feel many smaller guilds have overlooked or simply not utilized.

Surplus

I’ve heard about guilds organizing “surplus” runs with their guild farming the Temple of Spider and throwing the epics into the coffer. For shame! That’s valueable AD they are burning into the coffer at a much higher value. Every 810 salvage points should cost no more than five Tradebars for Nightmare weapons. All the items you farm that are epic have a higher salvage value, will earn you more diamonds and should never be fed to your guilds coffer.

Astral Diamonds

You should take every Tradebar you earn and only use them on Nightmare weapons, which are worth 5,500 AD when salvaged during 2x AD. These same weapons are used for surplus and are really the bread and butter of Strongholds.

Gold

A great source of gold is the new players of Neverwinter. Find a few members of your guild who spend a majority of their time in the Enclave, and ask them to sell Dusk Boot Packs. To a new player, level 70 Epic boots for 20-40g is quite the deal and it helps out both parties. After a few weeks of merching small undervalued items you can easily amass thousands of gold. Remember there’s 100 new players to each “pro” and they all still want that first lvl 70.

Tyranny of Dragons

This campaign currency stood out for the massive numbers it requires, especially at higher levels. The saving grace to help knock down these numbers were Genie’s Gifts. When a new lockbox drops, many players suddenly throw their Genies Gifts out the window in hopes that they can recoup a bit more AD for another shot at lockbox glory. Capitalize upon these frivolous players and snatch them up when the price hits rock bottom. These Genies Gifts are also a great source of…

Guild Marks

Now I’m not sure where this falls in the lines of “exploitation” or “poor game design” but either way, the result is clear. If you and five buddies make a new guild and go into that new guilds Stronghold, you can fill the labor coffer, leave the guild, and make a new one. The process takes minutes and can generate well over 90k Guild Marks per hour. Check the market, profession assets cost dirt. This is also a great way to make more AD using maps and a rank 12 guild hall, by selling Masterwork Resources.

All in all, Strongholds / Mod 7 was a lot of fun, anger, stress, struggle, but ultimately a triumph and I want to thank all the members of LGPG, old and new, who came out and made the dream of a perfect build time real.

Epics from t2 have more value for mimic imo. Its quite easy to hit salvage limit. But rings (and blue salvagable gear overall) from UD skrimishes are good source of AD. Now my guild is maxed at AD and we cant put any vouchers we have. 🙁 After halving AD donation its easy to max it/hit req level for structures. So AD is not the problem anymore. ToD and influ are our problems.

Also make sure to always leave junk in the skill-nodes that gives masterwork-profession resources…
Oh wait, that’s just what LGPG is known for…

I’m against salvaging epic gear, but that’s just me. 810 to the coffer is massive, especially for guilds that don’t require donation minimums or aren’t P2W. I put together eToS surplus runs once or twice a day, because that’s a quick 4050 minimum to Surplus Equipment. We’re in the same situation as puchaczysko’s guild, Influence and ToD being the biggest issue. We’ve maxed out AD pretty quickly since the cost changes. SH caches from Dragonflight, AD vouchers from Leadership and the weekly Cache of the Dragon Queen from Tiamat made that pretty easy.

Paranoid Delusion – A being of no true identity, this manifestation defines itself according to its perception of its master, altering its appearance and combat behavior to reflect the master’s role.

The Paranoid Delusion has initial points in Hit Points, Power, Critical Strike and Armor Penetration. Its Active Bonus increases your damage against rooted, disabled, held or prone targets.

I believe that this is not the guide any non-P2W are looking for. Why?

    1. Surplus: Tradebars = Lockbox. Period. Not every guildie are getting the VIP packs and what’s wrong with putting in additional Epics when you have hit the AD cap that day? 😉

    2. AD: Tradebars again, oh dear! I think LGPG is having alot of tradebars hoarded up, well not that I’m surprised. But is it player friendly method? Nope.

    3. Gold: Seriously, who have a major gold problem? I guess probably not even 1% of the guilds!

    4. Tyranny: Wait wait wait, because running dragons and doing dailies are harder than getting genie gifts, when you are loaded that is!

    5. Guild marks: Well that’s one thing that isn’t complete nonsense here.

Conclusion? This post is a show of LGPG wealth and buying power, not really a guide to help out other guilds. And I believe the NWO:UN mods can do better when posting up guides for other players just like they have always done. Bad slip up, but thanks for the effort!

Thanks for your feedback! I guess the post has to be seen in its proper context. Maybe it was not smart to tag it as guide, because as you’ve correctly mentioned it can be challenged that it universally applies.

If you have a more free-2-play opinion and approach on Stronghold progression and like to share it, feel free to contact us. You could also directly answer to this guide.

      Cheers!

Maybe you have the answer to strongholds success, you may have even named it yourself, or collected thousands of them since day 1. Everything players in NW need is provided by lockboxs and the return on their value is amplified the more you open them. I just outlined the strongholds benefits to lockboxing. I wonder if you could discern what resources from lockboxs can improve your character. The feeder artifacts, rp, etc etc. even as a F2P player, its in your best intrest to open lockboxs, but its up to you to utilize the results to their full potential.

I would suggest renaming this guide “The P2W method of reaching Guildhall 20”

Hey NWO_Unblogged, you’re welcomed and thanks for receiving my feedback with grace albeit it wasn’t the best worded out there! And yes as a Theorycrafting it fits but as a Guide it still have some ways to go, so it would be appreciated if the tags are altered a bit.

I’ll tidy up a fast list for a more general crowd and send it your way, hopefully soonish 😉

Indy was playing other games and basically non-existent the entire time his guild was working on GH 3-19.

LGPG members spent hundreds of hours farming the Stronghold Dragonflight, playing the content, and exchanging AD to buy Starter Packs. This “guide” is theory-crafting by someone who was barely involved.

The truth is farming dragons, tending production plots, running campaign dailies on alts, buying Strongbox keys, and doing influence every day on many characters was the bulk of how LGPG leveled up the Guild Hall. It took nights and weekends and exhaustive support of hundreds of players committed to having the best things in the game by mastering the fundamental farming techniques.

The real guide? Learn how to kill four dragons quickly by organizing your guildmates and getting them involved, and learn how to earn AD so you can buy shortcut Starter Packs when necessary.

This “guide” is disingenuous, and theory-crafting at best. Indy was not involved in LGPG GH 3-19, as he was off playing other games (presumably) for 5 months.

You will not fill your gold coffer by selling Dusk Boots, or your Salvage with tradebars. In fact, it’s far more practical to use Glory to buy purple belts, donate rings and belts from T2 dungeons, or to level up alts for gold, and Indy might have known that if he logged in during the GH upgrades.

There is no secret to how LGPG reached Guild Hall 20. It took over a hundred dedicated players nights and weekends and hundreds of hours of farming Dragons and converting AD to Zen to buy Starter Packs.

My advice would be to get your guildmates involved in running Dragonflight and using the new campaign tasks on alts to build the crates of supplies.
