Latest Update On The Leadership Changes Nothing But Hot Air

Today the devs released an update on the Leadership change on the gateway that really doesn’t live up to its name, because it presents no solution or encouraging news towards a solution for the concerns that have been raised. Players are afraid that bots will eventually adjust to the change and carry on while the legit player is left alone with a straight nerf. This isn’t unjustified, because that’s how every anti-botting measure eventually has panned out in the past.

Instead of giving players appropriate compensation for the loss of ADs, they will be running x2 weekends. We know they like those, because they make people log in and produce nice spike numbers to show, but of course it’s nowhere near enough. They are still using their usual “we monitor stuff” templates, which never have led to anything substantially. We can however only guess what “the supply of AD performing as expected” means. Maybe they felt players were able to get too much ADs anyway and the nerf was needed on multiple levels, who knows really.

Fittingly I raised some concerns that are only confirmed by the blog post in a reply to a very encouraging post of Strumslinger at the end of last month:

[su_quote cite=”Strumslinger” url=”http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/discussion/comment/12637874#Comment_12637874″]We never intended to just turn off Leadership on Gateway and leave it at that.[/su_quote]

[su_quote cite=”j0Shi” url=”http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/discussion/comment/12638954/#Comment_12638954″]Furthermore history has shown that adjustments after nerf in favor of the players are few and far between. In fact, I’d like anybody to name an example where this has happened, because I can’t remember one. Stuff has been removed, nerfed, reworked and although the “we will monitor”-card has been dropped frequently, we are still waiting. Players are very cautious unless you deliver some of the promises.[/su_quote]

Instead of meeting their promise, the blog article indicates that everything will be staying the same short term. And if the changes remain untweaked even longer, you might want to remember how they handled this one.

    Playing PvP
Old: If you picked up the daily quest, you got 4,000 AD for two matches.
New: 1. Automatically get 2,000 AD for each of the first two matches. 2. In addition, get 200 to 300 AD per match played (up to a maximum 4,800 AD per day from PvP). Amount varies by time.

Leadership, while no longer a major source of AD, is still a good source for XP, Gold, and loot items. All of these things are valuable to regular players, but less so to botters.

    Lead Designer”

Tbh, the only problem we have now is clueless game designer not botters.
    2 PVP matchs = 4000 AD?
    what are you smoking?

And Gold is valuable to regular players?

And you are safe to call yourself Lead Designer?

The designer recently introduced a lot of changes only against legit players, like I said in previous Gateway change, it will not affect Botters, it only hurts legit players the most.

Gees, guess anyone can get a job in game design industry nowadays. Even mentally ret**d**

Rereading this one 1/1/2017. Sends a chill down my spine. Read Strumslinger’s quote outloud to yourself. Famous last words?
