Light up the Night Reward Tiers Continue to Confuse Players

Since yesterday the Celebration of Lliira is back in the Enclave and claims to honor joy, freedom and liberty. I have been very critical with the event in my review last year, but haven’t touched on another important issue: Players do not seem to understand the reward structure of the “Light up the Night” contest that runs in the Enclave every 30 minutes.

From competition to reward tiers

What a waste of Fireworks…

The event has been reworked two times and the last one changed “Light up the Night” from a competitive format to a tiered one. Up to 199 donated Fireworks only earn a chance at a Favor, 200 to 499 one or two and over 500 two or three. People failed to properly adjust to the change already last year and expected to get better results based on the ranking in the contest.

This year the zone chat again was full of players complaining how they went first and second, yet only got the bronze reward tier. Tears are shed, threads opened. The picture on the left shows the misconception. 100 Seconds before the contest ends several players donated way more Fireworks than needed for bronze, but too less for silver. That’s wasting Fireworks.

The description is well hidden

A big part of the issue is that it’s simply not well documented. Clicking on the contest description next to the minimap, players only find the hint that more fireworks equal more rewards. You have to go to the Disciple of Lliira and browse to the participation info text. That’s were the reward tiers are outlined. I think the devs did explain the new structure last year, but Wednesday’s announcement mentions no specifics. People additionally get confused over the cooperative aspect. They think the more Fireworks the instance donates collectively, the better reward.

It’s kind of a big deal because it’s the main source of Favors. I guess players could do a better job of reading the available descriptions, but at least the contest info box should state that players actually need 200 Fireworks to get a guaranteed Favor.

What to do?

Well first of all: If you can’t reach 200 Fireworks, donate not more than five. Because that’s enough for the bronze tier. The Fireworks are BoE and can be stashed away in the mail or account shared bank. Having them in your personal bank however will still automatically consume them, so be aware. With donating only five you can grab a chance at Favors relatively easy and get guaranteed ones whenever you have 200 in the bank or mail. Also make sure to stay near the display when the contest ends. You’ll get buffs from it that multiply the event drops from mobs. Most likely other players will also launch fireworks there, which further adds to your multiplier.

I hope that helped clear up things a little bit. In case you have any further questions or remarks, make sure to share them below or in the corresponding thread on our message board.

actually…1 is enought…got moch more favor from donating 1 (actually every time 1 favor[7 times now]) than donating 10+ (did that twice and got 0 Favor)

The strategy is clear but what about the rewards? Spending time in this even is just a waste..
