The Lowbie Diaries Vol. 28: Siege of Neverwinter

Lowbie Diaries BannerWelcome to a project, experiment, challenge or whatever you wanna call it. Normally experiencing the content with well-geared toons, I figured it would be quite interesting to approach the game from the perspective of a casual player. How does it feel starting from scratch and build up a character without the help of your mains? How long does it take until you are geared enough for the latest endgame content? Welcome to the Lowbie Diaries, it should be fun!

The Siege of Neverwinter event catapulted my new lowbie DC to 60 in no time. I was mainly busy farming the event with my mains, but couldn’t dodge the opportunity to push Illithiel a bit as well. Thanks to the surreal XP granted on the event map for pre-60 players, I needed under two hours to 60, but then the effectivity clearly diminished.

I also stopped because I’m mainly interested how the new 60-70 progression plays out with the recently introduced revamped Elemental Evil campaign. I personally still find it a bit grindy because you literally have to play through every Vigilance Task once, but overall it’s a way better system than the hourly quests obviously. I’d still recommend mixing Elemental Evil with the Maze Engine campaign and Dwarven King quest line, which simply grant more XP for the time invested.

I also have briefly tried Vault of the Nine, but the way the scaling works it’s better to do this once 70. You don’t actually need your class Artifact at this point anyway. With the two daily leveling dungeons I still run I’m currently at 160k ADs. It’ll probably be close to 300k once 70 and I plan to immediately flip it for the first set of standard gear.

Overall I’m pretty satisfied how the DC is performing so far. I went Righteous AC/DC and can comfortably solo everything. The damage might even be on par with true DPS classes on these levels. It started to get really easy once Divine Glow became available at level 45, because that beauty does everything. Damage, Buff, Debuff, Heal, just one of those spells that seem a little too overpowered compared to others.

See you next time!
