The Lowbie Diaries Vol. 30: Summer Festival Fail

Lowbie Diaries BannerWelcome to a project, experiment, challenge or whatever you wanna call it. Normally experiencing the content with well-geared toons, I figured it would be quite interesting to approach the game from the perspective of a casual player. How does it feel starting from scratch and build up a character without the help of your mains? How long does it take until you are geared enough for the latest endgame content? Welcome to the Lowbie Diaries, it should be fun!

I welcomed the Summer Festival with open arms on my lowbies, because the changes on paper looked great. Unfortunately everything that could go wrong indeed did on my little Devoted Cleric. I had saved up about 300,000 AD from my daily runs that were intended as start-up capital for my first batch of level 70 equipment. Because I didn’t initially understand how the volley mechanic is supposed to work I bought six Sahha Balls for the money I had. I thought that I would probably get that investment back because I would be able to get to the Mithral ticket prizes earlier.

Of course I didn’t know back then that you could get to the last tier at the first day anyway and that the tickets that drop are not worth the 100 ZEN per ball. I guess I was a little bit too enthusiastic based on how great the Jubilee event was. This means I effectively wasted the AD I grinded throughout the last weeks. It’s annoying because 300,000 AD is actually quite a lot for a fresh character. To make matters worse I forget to learn a volley power before trying the balls for the first time. I was standing inside a guard booth at the Enclave while my group yelled at me how that shit is supposed to work. Well I knew, but I simply didn’t have the skill. I spend three balls that popped immediately after the release…

I guess the event will still be an overall success. I already have over 150 Silver and Bronze Tickets, so I should at least be able to get my AD back. But while I stated in my last edition that there are always opportunities you can seize, there are also still a lot of traps you can run into. I’m also looking forward to get the Water Horse, because it offers a speed upgrade for the character.

I eventually hit 70 during the event and geared up to 1,700 item level with the ADs I still had. At roughly under 50k Hit Points I’m absolutely not able to run any group content yet, so the first task will be to get a full tier 1 armor set, which should at least be enough to get into dungeons and skirmishes as buffer.

See you next time!

This event was great if farmed with many alts however I got like 40-50 mithrals on main and over 30 on second account, most alts had like 10-20 mithrals. I would say 80% of drops (tried to get legendary) were silver tickets and rest was just trade bars. My guildie had ~20 tickets and got legendary drake, another guildie got artifact. I have managed to buy few tattoo and one sea clothes+and tons of r7 enchants. Kinda good for spending 0 zen. 😛
