Mark of Potency Pricing Changes Is A 58% Reduction

I have been very critical of the latest AD/Leadership changes for various reasons, but the devs made a first adjustment announcement today in decreasing the hardcoded costs of Mark of Potencys. I have to say I didn’t expect it, at least not so soon, so kudos to the devs for improving one of the more severe progression paywalls.

[su_table]

Rank Old Cost New Cost % Old Cumulative New Cumulative %
8 100,000 25,000 -75% 100,000 25,000 -75%
9 200,000 50,000 -75% 400,000 100,000 -75%
10 200,000 50,000 -75% 1,000,000 250,000 -75%
11 500,000 200,000 -60% 1,500,000 450,000 -70%
12 500,000 400,000 -20% 2,000,000 850,000 -58%

[/su_table]

As you can see the impact is huge. For a Rank 12 Enchantment or Runestone you needed 20 GMOPs, or 2M ADs, and that cost has been lowered by 58%. It still means that a character needs approximately two full years of the daily AD refining cap to cover the costs of Mark of Potencys for BiS, but it’s progress at least. It also partially fixes a module-long design flaw in the enchantment progression that has been brought up by me and others. Since you don’t need an identical enchantment as reagent for Rank 11 and Rank 12, the new levels added in Module 6: Elemental Evil were way too cheap relative to the other levels and the new Superior Mark deals with this issue.

There are more paywalls left, I still think players should be able to play uncapped and get the same amount of progression out of their 1st and 1000th minute per day and the devs need to back up this improvement with a few others, but this shows that changes to the better are indeed possible and should slightly encourage players.

People that invested many months in leadership are still getting a raw deal, double so for people that purchased green or better assets and will now never recover that investment.

There are many solutions on the official forums for modifying Leadership to retain AD in the spirit it was originally intended, but not for bot armies. For my suggestion, see

By the way feel free to use the NeverForget banner in my signature line. I’m glad to see that several players are already using it.
