Neverember Recruitment Event Guide

[blog_subscription_form]

The Neverember Recruitment event is a format introduced in Neverwinter’s “Heart of Fire” update. It rewards creating and leveling new characters as well as bringing them through the Module 15 campaign. On top of all the regular rewards, players can earn an additional currency during the event days called “Neverember’s Incentives”. At a special vendor inside the market in Protector’s Enclave, those can then be traded for account-bound rewards. In this guide we look into ways of utilizing the event for both new and veteran players!

Incentive Sources

First and foremost: Who’s eligible to earn Neverember’s Incentives? Although it’s a technicality, the term “new character” from the event description is not entirely accurate. In fact, all level 1 characters are eligible. Of course that’s most likely brand-new toons, but actually creating them during the event is no requirement. While leveling up, you get Incentives through the normal Adventurer Reward boxes that you can open every ten levels or so. Level 57 unlocks the last one if I’m not mistaken. Could be +/- a level or two. This means you don’t actually have to run through the storyline, but just generate Experience, which should be good news for veteran players that are not thrilled to go through the old zones another time.

In contrast to that, you do have to run Acquisitions Incorporated campaign tasks to tap into the second source of Incentives. So those ones are time-gated because you can’t complete the campaign as fast as you like. Since the story picks up at level 15 however, new players won’t feel it as much because they will most likely advance the tasks as they level up.

Incentive Caps and Farming Approach

[sc name=”discord”]

Every character can earn 55 Incentives through leveling up and additional 45 from the campaign. Accounts in the meantime are limited to 200 total. So sophisticated math leads to the conclusion that you either need to bring two characters through leveling and the full campaign, or four character up to level 60. Do note however that the Incentive currency binds to the character. Not getting to the max of 100 means you won’t be able to get some of the rewards. The items themselves bind to account though, and can be moved around freely.

There not really a super special hints regarding leveling. The usual guides apply and you should utilize a Double Experience weekend if the devs pair it with the event. You can of course also throw in all sorts of XP boosts from giveaways or even the ZEN Market. I’m not sure the latter is really worth it though unless you plan to actively play the toon anyway. One thing players will miss in Module 15 is the Tome of Experience that used to drop from Overflow Rewards. It was a nice and easy way to get characters to level 60, especially during x2 XP. If you have leftovers, lucky you!

The campaign of course operates on the “Weekly Haul” limit, which means that your weekly progress is capped. Unlocking the full campaign takes four weeks unless you buy the Founder’s Pack from the ZEN Market. So getting to 100 Incentives takes at least that long. Gladly the event runs long enough to be able to get through the story quests comfortably.

Rewards and Veterans vs. Newbies

The structure requires players to adjust their farming approach based on the rewards they aim for. You can obviously only get the Bag, Mount, or Companion by also doing the campaign. If you’re gunning for cheaper items, leveling multiple characters is sufficient. New players are of course more likely to jump into the campaign as part of their leveling process while veterans are more interested to max Incentives the fastest possible way. In my opinion the rewards reflect that as the stuff for 100 Incentives works nicely on small accounts. A Runic Bag or epic Mount is a neat extra gimmick when starting out. On the contrary, seasoned accounts can get some help in endgame progression, like Companion Tokens or Refinement.

So my advise for new players is to save for the full 100 Incentives and then buy the Mount or the Bag, whatever you like or need the most. The Companion is nice as well, but there are better ones and the immediate (convenience) impact is not there since you still have to gear your new pet. Veterans in the meantime can probably work multiple characters and buy what they need the most. I personally like the Companion Tokens the most because it’s the only thing in the store that you cannot farm in PVE content directly. But some “not quite endgame” players might also find joy in grabbing the Ultimate Enchanting Stones they need to bring their first Weapon Enchantment to Unparalleled quality. Always however try to assess time spent versus doing other activities. In case you can farm Cradle for example, grabbing UES doesn’t make tons of sense.

Conclusion

The event is called “recruitment” and hence it doesn’t surprise that new players get the most out of it. It basically offers a neat extra reward at the end of the leveling and campaign progress that you shouldn’t ignore. There also is some farming potential for bigger accounts, most namely the Companion Tokens, but you have to closely measure time spent vs. the rewards you can get. Unless you can fast-track toons to level 60 through free boosts or power leveling, it might not be worth it.

That being said though, I like the general approach of the event and hope it’s not just a one-time thing for Module 15. On top of x2 Experience Neverwinter didn’t really have a major event for new players. So the devs did definitely fill a void here. They offer extra rewards for stuff that you ideally do anyway and sneakily enhance retention rates that way. Because while most new players in MMOs usually don’t stick around for too long, they will have to in case they want to “complete” Neverember’s recruitment. I assume that was a big part of the initial thought process behind the event and something that should benefit the game in general.

I’ve found it a great way to burn off all those xp tomes I’ve been hoarding. Make an alt, run through the tutorial, open an xp booster, open tomes, do the theft of the crown quest, cash in incentives for companion tokens and convert everything to RP (dump into a banked enchantment) and gold (bank it). Delete character and repeat 3 more times.

“cash in incentives for companion tokens”

Do you mean ONE companion token, delete, repeat 200 times?

I think I understand now. Theft of the crown quest allow for first incentive then eating XP tomes till you get the max incentives from leveling. Even with XP boosters, that’s a lot of tomes I think – which now are sold for a hefty price on AH

By the time you open the 10th Adventurer’s Reward Box from leveling up (or whatever it’s called), at level 59, you will have 55 Incentives, as well as the BoP Runic Bag, Companion and Mount etc. So you only need to Speed Level from level 5 to 59 with XP Tomes.

To get the other 45 Incentives, you have to play the new campaign up the Retrieval Operations side (avoid the Boons for now, Acorns are limited). That can take 6, maybe 8 weeks, because only 100 Acorns per week

The reason to do Theft of The Crown is because when you get from the beach, a New character is in a special private Instance pf PE and not the real one. After that, you can use chat, mail, bank etc as normal and interact with the Incentives Vendor.

What some Old Timers are doing is getting the 55 Incentives by level 59, putting in shared bank, deleting and repeating so they get 55, 55, 55, 35 (Max 200 per account) Companion Training Tokens.

Personally, I could not bear to delete a character with a Runic Bag on it! So I made two new ones with slots I’ve had for years, waiting on the Druid, and doing the whole campaign so I can buy a Runic bag each to give to a Main.

Of course, now I see the 40% sale and Runic Bags for 960 Zen, and wonder if I am still actually sane…

But I like my new characters and the campaign is quite fun. And I do want those free bags. Both can get their weekly Max 100 acorns by Tuesday, the rest of the week I do real stuff.

          🙂

    Thanks for this, j0Shi!

I actually made two new characters in spare slots I had waiting for the Druid. I want to get two BtA Runic Bags. I hope there’s still time to complete the AI campaign.

Getting the 55 Incentives from leveling was easy. I only realised how to get the other 45 yesterday!

Just to remind. One need to finish the entire camapaing to get all rewards. I started two new characters, and I’ve almost missed rewards because one of characters started quite late into event. So start ASAP if you plan to get all 100 on two characters.

Just a dumb question but I assume this post is for consoles and not PC as PC already had their event?
