Neverwinter Uncensored State of the Site and Vacation

Neverwinter Uncensored will be going into vacation for the next two weeks due to personal reasons. We will be back with the Community Watch on October 9th and might also be a bit slower to react on errors, site emails and personal messages. There’s a minor backlog of stuff to post, so the blog has scheduled posts until Friday and will be idle after that as well.

Roadmap

Such a break naturally offers the opportunity to look at the state of the site and future plans. The maintenance release anounnced in May could finally be rolled out last week (time flies, jeez), but the shutdown of the Gateway obviously altered our plans what do to with the Toolbase. Setting up a system based on user contributions to replace the automated crawl engine is our top priority going forward. We hope to have some timeline when we come back.

In the meantime we’ll continue our blogwork with the known frequency. We most likely also have something in store for the Foundry community, so be on the watchout! Additionally some of our tools like the Character Simulator are still fully functional.

State of the Site

We are also glad to announce that the site is ever growing. We are rapidly approaching 200,000 unique pageviews per month and serve over 35,000 Neverwinter players, which we think is a decent percentage of the endgame population. This is especially amazing since we still don’t get any official support. We are banned on the official PWE subreddit and arcgames platform because parts of our coverage and site does not align with their ToS.

The bigger the site gets, the more radical the approaches become to hide everything associated. The PWE moderation team has recently introduced a new standard message sent to everyone posting links to Neverwinter Uncensored. I guess that makes us famous? If this shows something than that the opinions about this site are heavily biased and concentrate on a minor aspect of what we have to offer.

Tooltips on Shivtr

Luckily those wrong perceptions fueled by a minority aren’t adopted by everyone. We just recently learned that guild hosting website Shivtr has added the Neverwinter Uncensored tooltips to their fold. Since two months all hosted websites are able to use our tooltips by simply linking to items in our database. We created a simple test site on Shivtr that shows the support. Any links posted on your site will be automatically styled and the tooltip attached to it.

We are glad our tools receive recognition beyond our own domain. Unfortunately using tooltips on rivals Enjin or Gamer Launch is not as easy yet. On Enjin you can manually inject our Javascript in a paid plan and it might not work with Gamer Launch at all. We’ve contacted both hosters to see whether they can follow Shivtr and enable the support as well.

Thanks to you!

Last but not least we want to thank our community and supporters. We have countless users feeding us information and suggestions and are in constant exchange with the community behind the scenes to gather opinions and statements. All this contributes to the posts you see on the blog and the changes we make to the site.

If you like what we do here, spread the word. As already mentioned we can’t link on official platforms, but in case you think a resource or post on our site might help a user, send a PM. We have yet to receive negative feedback on any of our approaches. Normally guys are thankful or already know and appreciate the site.

We are thrilled to continue to build the #1 independent source of all things Neverwinter with you! See you in two weeks!
