Podcast of Annihilation #2

In case you’re monitoring Neverwinter Youtube content, and in particular Nova, you might already know that the “Podcast of Annihilation” crew recorded a second episode. Well, and in case you didn’t, now you know! This time Nova took the stage with JayAgeDee and both went knee-deep into D&D lore, upcoming story, and extended class talk to the Monk!

This one might be a little less Neverwinter-y and a little more D&D knowledge, but it’s absolutely worth a listen for everyone. In the end Nova and Jay also come back to the game and throw in their opinion about the ongoing communication and feedback issues of the game.

Have fun with it!

Cheers. This might be worth watching if it has a bit more crunchy and a lot less waffly fluff and time-wasting than previous NW Dev Podcasts.

Buy MONK? I want a DRUID!

Interesting talk. The monk class in another MMORPG I play has a lot of the characterstics mentioned here: it is considered a tank class with high HP and the ability to burst 1shot (or almost…) single-target in PvP. It has weak AOE, average/below average damage, many self-buffs to increase its defenses and dodge skills, plenty of stuns and one in particular to teleport himself near the selected target and attack him from behind, making it fall for 3 seconds (advantage on the strike after the teleport like Jay spoke). In PvE people see the monk as a good tank class but crap damage, in PvP as a heavy tanker deadly in 1v1. But he is a bit slow to build his combo points for his burst damage in comparison to most classes.
In PvP the monk in that game is kind of like the GF in Neverwinter: ability to tank/take a lot of hits and high-burst damage that nearly 1shots.

Personally I don’t really mind which new class will be the next one, I’ll love it anyway. My preference is still bard, and after maybe druid. Monk would be one of my last choices.

What would be the Monk’s prime requisites? I’d imagine CON plus DEX or WIS. Possible WIS plus DEX or CON, unless they bring in CHA for the Psionic Striker part. But not another class best-suited to a Tieflfing. It would be nice to have something different that is not favoured by the same old races.

But what you describe sounds like a new class to replace the broken TR. Like the OP was the required tank for Mod 6 to replace the GF.
