*** UPDATE *** This rumor created quite some noise and Community Moderator kreatyve delivered a statement in this post.
It’s not known whether this is indeed semi-official or a personal opinion.
The Beholder Personal Tank from the running Portobello campaign on consoles is a pretty illustrious item. It’s one of very few a legendary items that can be farmed, but the drop chances drive players crazy. After completing the Artificer’s Workshop you can’t even always interact with the Beholder to try your luck. All in all only very few players have been and will be able to attain one.
Click, click, click
This makes an alleged discovery of popular Youtuber Garlaanx as much more annoying. Apparently some players didn’t need to go through the full grind thanks to an exploit.
As often a very simple issue might have caused this. The video suggests the eligibility of clicking the Beholder was refreshed whenever a player entered the map and not whenever all tasks within the map were finished. Hence players that continuously dropped in and out of the map could click the Beholder every time. This would also explain a few rumors surrounding a possible Beholder exploit when the event ran on PC.
The exploit has reportedly since been hotfixed. So in the last week of the event everyone is back trying their luck the intended way. In case you farmed your Beholder legitimately and think to sell it, you shouldn’t be too concerned though. It doesn’t look like the market will be flooded with the mount. After all the drop chance even getting more clicks in per hour is pretty low. So even if this actually was possible the amount of exploited Beholders shouldn’t be too high.
That does mean however that those that used the glitch would also majorly profit from it and would be able to make a fortune selling mounts over time.
