Review: AMA Reddit with Producer Lindsay Haven

Well, that was underwhelming.

Anybody who was hoping to get at least chunks of decent information has to be disappointed by Lindsay Haven’s premiere at the Neverwinter AMA stage. Going through the Reddit there’s a lot of SoonTM and MonitoringTM, but at least the list of stuff they are planning or looking into seems to be rather long and includes customization features, build swapping options, the Tiamat experience and AD as well as RP gain.
They have a very careful and slow approach to any economy decision and want to see how the game develops in Module 6 before making any further changes in that area.

A point of emphasis from the playerbase has been the refining system UI and the producer acknowledged some painful points and said there will be a fix in a future update (no specifics, of course).

One thing in terms of Elemental Evil stood out though. Two users specifically asked about new dungeons in the Mod and both times the producer kind of dodged a direct answer in referring to their rework of older dungeons. This actually sounds like there might be no new dungeons, which would be disheartening. It’s hard to believe their biggest Module so far has no endgame addition whatsoever other than recycled and revamped dungeons, skirmishes and HEs, which get most of their challenge from the fact that players compared to now will be relatively weak at start of the new stat curves.
That might be a harsh interpretation of the comments and certainly doesn’t rule out any later additions in the Mod, but right now you have to be pessimistic.

In terms of PVP the only mention is about some planned „projects“, which indicates more like a tourney based on the leaderboard, like the one they’ve run on the Russian server, than any full-blown features or more maps (no surprise here).
And although they’ve fixed the kicking exploit in the new Module, the leaderboard is still not a good representation of individual skill, which makes anything based on it lackluster. The fact that players might be able to win unique rewards in such an environment makes you cringe.

The good news is: It’s only six days until we ourselves can see what Elemental Evil has to offer! See you in the game!
