The Lowbie Diaries Vol. 16: Finishing Campaigns And Gear Goal Update

Welcome to a new project, experiment, challenge or whatever you wanna call it. Normally experiencing the content with well-geared toons, I figured it would be quite interesting to approach the game from the perspective of a casual player. How does it feel starting from scratch and build up a character without the help of your mains? How long does it take until you are geared enough for the latest endgame content? Welcome to the Lowbie Diaries, it should be fun!

I recently finished Icewind Dale, which was the last PVE campaign to get too 100%. That of course doesn’t mean I have all boons, but it shifts the daily focus a bit further away from dailies towards more dungeoneering. The only stuff I really have to do now is doing the daily in Sharandar and that’s it. I still visit Tyranny and Dread Ring, because I cannot dodge a chance of a Greater Mark per day and need all RPs for Artifact gear I can get.

Also the Valindra and Arcane Dragon Keys can’t hurt. I’m running VT anyway and pray to RNGeesus to bless me with the Artifact I’m still missing and Lostmauth is being run the most. Keys are extra salvage, extra RP, extra everything. And for Tyranny you can also always do Lesser DHs for a minor profit.

Gear-wise I’ve hit the 2.5k plateau and am not quite pleased with the results. As a support build you shouldn’t really pay too much attention to the paingiver, and admittedly I haven’t been bashed or something, but especially epic Demogorgon is still a bit out of reach and more importantly too many players require 3k nowadays. So to get into really good groups (and probably a guild with a sizable Stronghold) and take the next step of pug play, that would be what you’re looking at.

Although that might not be something I’m going to achieve during this project, I updated the Lowbie in our character manager and added a new 3k Goal gear layout. With Rank 10 enchants, there are generally two ways to get to 3k. Either you refine all your Artifacts to Mythic or you need to add two additional enchantment slots. That could be two legendary pieces of Artifact Gear or two-slot rings. The cheapest solution is to level Jewelcrafting for Personalized Rings, but maybe with a higher supply those Rosegoldss will also be a bit more affordable. To get all Artifacts from legendary to Mythic is 3.4M currently, two pieces of legendary Artifact Gear 4.5M (from purple). Add the Rank 10s (~400k per) and that’s quite a mountain to climb, I do however think it’s not unreasonable over time.

So I started leveling Jewelcrafting, which, if I remember that correctly, takes a bit longer than other professions because it doesn’t feature all those shirts and pants that give tons of XP. I will also continue to refine the Artifacts and see where it gets me.

See you next week!

Jewelcrafting leveling is a bit of a grind. For me the easiest way to do it was just run as many slots as possible of the “Deep” resourcing gathering task at the highest level available.
