The Lowbie Diaries Vol. 8: Summertime

Lowbie Diaries Logo

Welcome to a new project, experiment, challenge or whatever you wanna call it. Normally experiencing the content with well-geared toons, I figured it would be quite interesting to approach the game from the perspective of a casual player. How does it feel starting at item level 1,600 and build up a character without the help of your mains? How long does it take until you are geared enough for T1/T2 and where do you get all the RPs from? Welcome to the Lowbie Diaries, it should be fun!

I'm rich!!!
I’m rich!!!

As the weather gets warm, playing time gets cold and I’m no different. The lowbie naturally is the first to suffer, but there’s still some new stuff to talk about. Currently I’m switching between Sharandar to do the campaign and the Well of Dragons to earn AD. Since mobs in the campaign areas can feature up to 55% DR and my damage is still utterly pathetic, I decided to get a little more Armor Penetration than my 20%. Since I had quite some AD from selling the Panther from the Lliira event, I ended up completely retooling the char. I stripped all PVP gear that I primarily had due to the NCL and got as much ArPen as possible, ranked up my Lantern Artifact to epic and bought the Lostmauth Belt and Neck piece.

I'm low!!
I’m low!!

Ranking up RI made such a big difference in the every day grind that I don’t know why the hell I didn’t to it earlier. It’s not like mobs melt away once they see me, but the improvement is noticeable. This also is a breeze of fresh air in a time when the dailies started to become really boring and progress was slow. Because I additionally wanted to try something new I figured it was time for Tiamat. As you can see I received a warm welcome and since I need a group to carry me, I used a special strategy to get into good instances. Whenever I line up at the gate, I keep an eye on those BiS and near BiS players, because they are most likely on a timer and I go in once they go in. I’m getting win after win and maybe Tiamat indeed is my best shot at endgame at this point, because my weak ass can be covered.

I did also participate in the Sumer Festival, because I can upgrade my 50% mount to a 80% one with the daily Favors. Slow and steady boys, slow and steady.

So long!
