The Tarokka Deck Artifact Could Briefly One-Shot Bosses

[sc name=”discord”]

Today we’d like to report one of those weird bugs that make you ask yourself how they even made it to a live build? Because somebody during QA should have noticed it, right? What we’re talking about is a bug that allowed the Tarokka Deck to one-shot bosses. The Artifact has the unique functionality that it let’s you pick between three different random powers it draws from your deck. We’re not going over the full specifics because that was nicely done by Viral in this document, but one particular card and its effect was causing the issue.

Marionette Causing Issues

The Marionette‘s tooltip states that it kills all minions near you. It indeed did, including bosses! While you couldn’t target bosses directly, they would still die from the proc. So all you needed were some adds that you could target, and bang! This means it worked on bosses like Orcus in Tomb of the Nine Gods for example, but not the Atropal (apparently it did work on the Atropal when targeting a hand… see video below).

The bug has been fixed in a recent patch, and the card’s effect now properly affects only minion-rank enemies, but it’s still one of the more funny bugs in terms of ‘how did it even make it to live?’. It kind of reminds you of the initial bug with the Orcus set that could one-shot anything as well.

Let’s Maybe Test This Stuff on Preview?

It also adds another reason to make new items more obtainable on preview. Nobody could effectively test the Tarokka Deck Artifact unless they were willing to go through the full card grind. It was highly inconvenient to say the least and there’s not really a reason to not make the item available to everyone through a preview store or whatever. The Wondrous Bazaar has special tabs on the PTS where you can claim some stuff for testing purposes and it’s annoying that the devs don’t always add all relevant items there.

Because if players were able to properly test, then this could have been prevented? Anyway, the bug is gone now. So Orcus and the other bosses are safe… for now!

Aw, come on, Unblogged! You KNOW these things ALWAYS reach Live, ESPECIALLY when they’ve been reported over and over. 🙂

And usually they stay there for quite some time.

    Lostmauth Set
SB SW’s Infinite Soulsparks sending damage trough the roof
Jagged Dancing Blade One-shotting Draconic Heralds
That green, Magick Eye Wand thing One-Shotting Hati (2 of my characters have that. Does it still work?)
    Shadow of Retardedness
Chilling Presence buffing a LOT more than it says
    The entire Oathbound Paladin class

How many more can you think of?

That might make a fun article, like the Historical Exploits series,

    “Broken Over-Poweredliness”

    LOL!!

    🙂

If you think the Oathbound Paladin class is broken you must be a fucking moron or new to the game.

        OP,

I’ve played since the start of 2014, Mod 2.

I have 27 characters, 5 DC, 4 OP, 4 GWF, 3 GF, 2 CW and 3 of everything else all at level 70, except the latest GWF is about level 42.

I rolled my first 3 OPs in Mod 6, the same time as my hybrid GF Protector/Tactician tanks were destroyed by the new feats being inserted at Tier III. Whereas the DC got useful feats at Tier III which ushered in the era of Powershare, perma-Bubble and Stand in the Red and never L2P, non-dps GFs were destroyed as we could no longer have both Brawling Warrior and Inspiring Leader as they were now at Tier IV in two different Paragon paths. This is when most of the good ones quit, when they saw everyone standing in the red in Epic Cragmire boss room and the OPs were all squealing that the only useful DC was an AC DC with Gift of Haste and AA Powershare, because the OPs had absolutely zero idea how to play without their perma-Bubble.

The OP is not as retardedly broken as it used to be, but it IS, unequivocally, utterly, utterly brokenly over-powered. But in the time period to which I refer and which you are clearly too dim to grasp, it was BROKEN.

Which is why I said that like the Historical Exploits series, an historical series on “Broken Over-Poweredliness” might be fun.

        😡

The guy probably never found any bugs on OP, of which the worst still exsists imho…

Interesting, what would that be? I know you play an SW, how do you feel about being a 1 Feat Buffed Curse Bot? Or can you get in end-game groups as a dps?

I have no idea what you are talking about, Gh0st. There was no Mod 4.5. The expansion to Mod 4, Tyranny of Dragons, was Mod 5 – Rise of Tiamat. and oin 2013 PC was in open beta and Mod 1.

I’ve not kept my notes on this up to date, but this is the situation on PC (sorry I can’t do tables here):

I’ll come again with my theories of conspiracy, this was done on purpose, for the giggles and shit by devs. Do not underestimate them or angelize them thinking no way they would pull things like these on purpose. Ditto.
