Unblogged Wisdom Checks: Have You Seen Enough of the Weekly Haul Campaign Progression System?

Today we’ve already talked about the new Ravenloft campaign and that it once again features the “Weekly Haul” progression system. It’s a nice one for altoholics and casuals alike as you can freely choose when to do your quests and the overall load isn’t too much either. On the other hand campaigns only really offer something to do for one day per week and character, which leads to content droughts for hardcore players that only main a single toon. The devs indicated they still like it, but also that they want variety to cater to different play styles.

This brings us to today’s poll question: Have you seen enough of the Weekly Haul campaign progression system? Are you already tired of it or do you think it’s the best idea the devs had so far?

The game has made an effort to cut the ties on regular logins. It’s taken a long time but they removed the invoking daily requirement or you lose your coins. With 100K limit for daily refinement this also reduces the incentive to login once you reach caps. And of course the campaign system which makes it possible to complete your weekly grind in one day (and within hours when the old standard was 30 minutes a day). All in all the demands of the game have lowered. Is this good? I’m not sure. Obviously it broadens the appeal by creating a game that works for weekend warriors, but it reduces the game time and the volume of people on at any given time. Only cryptic knows the true state of the game, and its questionable that they do since we’ve always challenged their decision making as it relates to player engagement.

I do appreciate the increased catering to casuals like me. However I wish hardcore players didn’t have their options limited. Isn’t there a way to give to one kind of player without taking away from the other?

I was saying this 2 days after mod 4 hit Preview. The weekly cap is not the problem! The problem is and has beeen for a very long ttime, CONTENT! The lack of viable, level specific content in the game can only be classified as an epic failure.
