Introducing the Toolbase crowdsource subscription model

Postby j0Shi » Mon Nov 07, 2016 20:37

Sup fellas,

As announced we are switching to a crowdsourced model for our Auction House data since the automated crawl engine went down with the Gateway. All users that want access to the data have to provide a chunk of the data themselves. On the new UN:Gold page you can start earning your gold. The engine will automatically request either the current ZAX exchange or an item from the Auction House. Please read through the instructions thoroughly and fill in the data. We hope this will get our tools back to a semi-useful state. It's now up to you to keep the database rolling! ;)

We are starting off with the International Dragon server to see whether everything is working as intended and how many user are willing to contribute. More servers can then be added on the fly.

We will still explore other ways of bringing back an automated engine and have a few ideas, but short-term we think the manual engine is our best shot. We'll detail the latest 1.0.8.0 update and its changes in a blog post this week, so stay tuned!

Thanks for your support and stay uncensored!

One more note: Please don't feel discouraged by the initial amount of outdated data. We have severely cut down monitored items from about 2,400 to 650, but depending on participation it might take a day or two until we have circled through all items once and have semi-reliable numbers for the tools again.
