Welcome to the latest installment of our Bag of Tricks! On some days you will find useful tricks, gimmicks and ideas here that can make life in Neverwinter Online easier. Some of the stuff should be well known, but since even veterans learn something new every now and then, chance is you can, too.
The currently running Wonders of Gond event has never been one of our favorites, because it’s too hard to acquire a Doohickey. We touched on the main issue on our reviews of earlier editions, but have run the numbers again for the current one.
Assuming you can run the profession tasks and start from Gadgets, the amount of Grommets needed for a Doohickey is 4,955. It’s absolutely impossible to farm this amount during the event days on one character. The best option seems to be running the professions, most namely the Jewelcrafting event task. The second reward tier grants 205 refining points, meaning you need to start the task 120 times for your Doohickey. That’s certainly possible, especially on multiple characters. But of course you need sufficient resources and assets on all characters.
If you’re refining from scratch the number of Grommets raises to 5,585. In that case you also want to use Wards for the upgrade process to Thingamabobs. Otherwise you only need them for the Doohickey.
Currently the Doohickeys sell for a little bit more than their creation costs, which is around 400,000 AD at the current price of Grommets. Please also note that Blueprints are currently cheaper than them. They are worth 800 Grommets or roughly 90,000 AD and cost only 50,000 AD in the ZEN market. So if you’re just looking to resell Doohickeys, it makes sense to replace Grommets with the Blueprints where possible. But watch out. The Doohickeys currently spike at over 700,000 AD, but have sold for under 400,000 throughout the year.
