The Lowbie Diaries Vol. 36: Finally a new Chapter in the Progression
Welcome to a project, experiment, challenge or whatever you wanna call it. Normally experiencing the content with well-geared toons, I figured it would be quite interesting to approach the game from the perspective of a casual player. How does it feel starting from scratch and build up a character without the help of your mains? How long does it take until you are geared enough for the latest endgame content? Welcome to the Lowbie Diaries, it should be fun!
Maybe I should have waited writing the last piece of the series until after the Winter event, because that’s when stuff started to actually click for my lowbie Cleric. Through the double events and thanks to the money made with the Gifts, I was able to catapult my item level to 2,500. I have four purple Artifacts now, the Tiamat Artifact set and I’m on a good way to full Rank 8 Enchantments. The only campaign I need to do now before Storm Kings Thunder is Dread Ring.
The Winter Festival was nice
Another massive side effect of the Winter Festival is the ability to fill up Companions and Mounts. I got lucky with an Apparatus, but the Mounts for the other Insignia Bonuses I wanted were available for few ADs on the AH. I additionally own four active purple Companions. Not all of them are endgame-viable, but it’s nice to see all slots filled with useful stuff at least. All in all, the Winter Festival seems to help out lowbies in different categories. It’s truly an event you can’t miss.
So we’re finally able to take the next step in the progression. I pretty much only have to refine at this point, but need better Rings. I originally planed to also get Underdark Rings for my Con Artist, but they are announced to no longer proc on Companions in Module 11. So I want to see how stuff plays out first and for now only need the Ring of Rising Power +4 and Ring of Brutality +4, which both drop from Demogorgon. That’s why I have switched from running leveling dungeons to Normal Demogorgon. One run equals one key in the campaign, so that’s a convenient addition to the daily task list.
Not sure how long this will take, but if all goes well I might have them when The Cloaked Ascendancy hits and can then work on the next tier of Artifact Weapons and Companion gear.
See you next time!
