Unblogged Wisdom Checks: What’s Your Least Favorite Grind System of Recent Mods?

Repetitive tasks are essential to any MMO. It keeps players busy and makes them come back for their dailies and weeklies. Only because it’s a necessity doesn’t mean developers can’t get creative with the stuff they throw at their players however. Farming always gets annoying over time, but to what extent largely depends on how interesting the grind is set up, and also on what type of player you are. Some Eastern MMOs for example feature hardcore grind that is probably unbearable to a Western audience. But over there players simply love to work hard for their rewards. On the other hand, not enough grind leads to players progressing too fast, and the ensuing content drought depleting the population.

What is perceived as “boring” or “fair” can vary, but we’re sure you have a Neverwinter grind system that you genuinely hate from recent mods! Right?

The double RNG of Chult hunting is brutal and depressing.

i’d say legendary ring farming or the voninblood farming to keep armor empowered. Both were bad enough that i didn’t do them.

Some were bad and avoidable, others were bad and unavoidable in order to stay BIS competitive, which for me is why I hated Relic Weapon farming. It was also linked to Keygate and required buying keys or fishing until your eyes bled all while watching some obvious bots reeling away. I was very relieved to have other weapon options open up several months later as I’ll never do MSVA/SOMI BHE again, unless heavily bribed. MSVA was all I was doing for several weeks with very little to show for my effort and I still have a stack of 20 Superior Marks of Ild and 15 Superior Marks of Uvar that I just can’t bring myself to throw out/convert to RP because of the pain in obtaining them. F#@& You Superior Marks of Stig and Dragon Turtle Moults!! Even Cryptic realized how painful it was and later tripled the drop rate and later placed many of the items on the seal vendor, which shows just how bad the grind was.
