Welcome to the latest installment of our Bag of Tricks! On some days you will find useful tricks, gimmicks and ideas here that can make life in Neverwinter Online easier. Some of the stuff should be well known, but since even veterans learn something new every now and then, chance is you can, too.
Players widely agree that the devs could do a better job of giving players tools to properly test on the preview server. One minor, albeit very annoying, wall you run into are character slots. On the preview server players start with the standard of two slots and no way to buy more. The ZEN store is not available and the slots you have on live do not transfer. This means if you copy over two characters, you can’t create additional ones.
It might not sound like a big issue, because situations where you absolutely can’t delete characters on preview and at the same time want to start a new one from scratch are rare. But they do exist for theorycrafters and testers. Luckily with the introduction of prebuild level 70 characters, there is now a workaround. Those are actually unlocked and come with an extra character slot. Meaning if you “buy” a new level 70 character through the character selection screen, you gain access to more slots. Create, delete (or keep) the fresh level 70, repeat. Theoretically you can get up to the maximum of 50 slots that way.
There’s one obstacle though: To start the process you need to strip down to one character. But then you’ll most likely never have to delete anything useful again on the preview server. Thanks to user wulfsaxin for bringing this up on our message board! It’s really a handy trick for all those that were annoyed by the limited character slots!
